We get asked the same questions on most jobs. Here are the answers, grouped by topic. If your question isn't here, call 0417 237 267 and we'll answer it directly.
Is rope access safe?
Yes. Industrial rope access has one of the strongest safety records of any access method in the construction industry, both in Australia and internationally. Our technicians work on dual ropes (a working line and a backup safety line) and hold current certifications to AS/NZS ISO 22846.2:2020. Every job is carried out under a Safe Work Method Statement (SWMS), equipment is inspected before each shift, and we work in full compliance with WHS legislation and SafeWork NSW requirements.
How is rope access different from scaffolding or cherry pickers?
Rope access uses ropes, harnesses and certified anchor points to position technicians at the work area. Scaffolding builds a structure around the building. Cherry pickers and scissor lifts are mobile platforms parked at ground level. Rope access is faster to mobilise, cheaper for most jobs, doesn't block parking or balconies, and reaches places lifts can't.
When isn't rope access the right choice?
For very large jobs that need many tradesmen working at once on the same facade, scaffolding can be more efficient. For ground-level or low-rise work where lifts have easy access, lifts are usually faster. We'll tell you honestly if rope access isn't the best fit for your job.
Is rope access cheaper than scaffolding?
For most Sydney buildings under 30 storeys, yes — significantly. Scaffolding costs include erection, dismantling, hire duration, traffic management, hoarding and council approvals. Rope access skips most of these. On a typical apartment building repaint or remedial repair job, rope access can be 30–60% cheaper.
Do you charge for quotes?
No — quotes are obligation-free. We attend site, inspect the works, and provide a written quote with scope, methodology and inclusions.
How do I get a quote?
Call 0417 237 267 or submit an online enquiry. We'll arrange a site visit at a time that suits you.
Are you insured?
Yes. We hold comprehensive public liability insurance and workers compensation. Insurance certificates are available to building managers and strata committees on request via our Documents page.
Are you licensed?
Yes — NSW Licence 123517C. Our technicians hold current industrial rope access certifications to AS/NZS ISO 22846.2:2020 and, where relevant, fall arrest certifications to AS/NZS 1891.4:2025.
Can you provide SWMS and risk assessments?
Yes — every job has its own SWMS prepared before work begins. We provide copies to building managers and project supervisors before mobilising on site.
Will rope access disrupt residents or tenants?
Far less than scaffolding. Residents keep their balcony access, parking stays open, and the worksite isn't visible from inside the building. We brief residents in advance — typically a week's notice with a reminder the day before — and we don't enter apartments unless agreed.
Can you work in wind or rain?
Within limits. We monitor weather forecasts and won't rope down in unsafe wind conditions (typically over 40 km/h depending on the work). Light rain is usually fine for inspection work but not for painting or sealant application. If weather stops work, we reschedule — you don't pay for time we can't work.
How long will the job take?
Depends on scope. A facade repaint on a typical 6-storey apartment building might take 2–3 weeks. A targeted concrete spalling repair might take 2–3 days. We'll give you a clear timeline in the quote.
Do you work on heritage buildings?
Yes — we've worked on numerous Sydney heritage buildings including some of the oldest in Australia, such as The Orient Hotel in The Rocks. Heritage work is approached with appropriate care, sympathetic finishes and (where required) heritage architect liaison.
How often do anchor points need testing?
Annually. To remain compliant with AS/NZS 1891.4:2025 (fall arrest) and AS/NZS ISO 22846.2:2020 (rope access), anchor points and height safety systems must be inspected, tested and certified every 12 months. Learn more on our anchor points page.
Can you certify anchor points installed by another company?
Yes, where they're certifiable. We'll inspect, load-test and certify any compliant system. If components have failed or aren't compliant, we'll provide a quote to repair or replace only what's needed.
